Notes on data changes

Here we list notes explaining important emissions changes for the country. ’' means that the following text only applies to the TP time series, while  means that it only applies to the CR scenario. Otherwise the note applies to both scenarios.

  • We have included data from BUR2. It covers a longer time period and is mostly consistent with BUR1 data. However, many sectors only have sufficient data in 5-year time steps. The new BUR data has changed emissions estimates in many sectors, a few of the most important changes are listed below.
  • Energy CO2 data is much lower post 2014 because the BUR2 data does not show the steep emissions increase that is in CDIAC and EI data. BUR1 data is only until 2014 and thus the third party sources had to be used in PRIMAP-hist v2.5.1 (CR).
  • CH4 from fossil fuel combustion is generally much lower in BUR2 (CR)
  • CO2 in 1.B.1 is now 0 as it is included as 0 in BUR2 and was missing in BUR1 and taken from EDGAR
  • N2O from M.AG.ELV is higher for most years, CH4 is much higher for most years.
  • HFCs are much higher in CR and TP scenarios because BUR2 shows a steep increase between 2015 and 2020 and is also used for the TP scenario (no third party data available)
  • Changes in sectors 4 and 5 in the TP scenario are due to the removal of FAOSTAT data.

Changes by sector and gas

For each scenario and time frame the changes are displayed for all individual sectors and all individual gases. In the sector plot we use aggregate Kyoto GHGs in AR6GWP100. In the gas plot we usenational total emissions without LULUCF. ## country reported scenario
