Notes on data changes

Here we list notes explaining important emissions changes for the country.

  • Data from BTR1 has been replaced by data from the 2025 National Inventory Submission. This leads to changes in several sectors and gases which impact especially 2023 emissions.
    • The most important change for 2023 is CO2 in IPPU which is mostly due to a decline in chemical industry and metal industry emissions
    • A similarly high reduction is from N2O in M.AG.ELV where emissions are lower for all years. Thus this also impact cumulative emissions significantly. The reason is that the emissions factor for “Inorganic N fertilizers” has been roughly halved for the new CR data.
    • Lower 2023 emissions for energy CO2 come from replacing EI growth rate based data with CR data.
    • CH4 from 1.B.1 is consistently lower for all years in the new CR data. The reason is that the emissions factors for surface coal mines have been drastically reduced.
  • Changes in the TP scenario are come from the updated EI data for energy CO2 which is lower than last years release post 2021.

Changes by sector and gas

For each scenario and time frame the changes are displayed for all individual sectors and all individual gases. In the sector plot we use aggregate Kyoto GHGs in AR6GWP100. In the gas plot we usenational total emissions without LULUCF.
