Notes on data changes

Here we list notes explaining important emissions changes for the country.

  • Data from BTR1 has been replaced by data from the 2025 National Inventory Submission. This leads to changes in several sectors and gases which are small in terms of total emissions.
    • The main change in the CR time-series is a 57% increase in N2O from M.AG.ELV (2023 and cumulative). This comes from a three-fold increase in the emissions factor for the cultivation of organic soils.
    • Energy CO2 is higher for 2023 because EI2024 showed a strong decline in emissions which is weaker in the new CR data.
    • Further smaller changes are for CO2 in IPPU, fugitive emissions, livestock CH4 and further sectors and are due to updated data and emissions factors.
  • The main change for the TP time-series is a 13% increase in 2023 energy CO2 emissions. While EI2024 data shows a decline for 2023, EI2025 shows a strong emission increase.
    • Further smaller changes are for fugitive emissions, where no third party data exists and CR data has updated emissions for the latest years.

Changes by sector and gas

For each scenario and time frame the changes are displayed for all individual sectors and all individual gases. In the sector plot we use aggregate Kyoto GHGs in AR6GWP100. In the gas plot we usenational total emissions without LULUCF.
