Notes on data changes

Here we list notes explaining important emissions changes for the country.

  • Data from BTR1 has been replaced by data from the 2025 National Inventory Submission. This leads to changes in several sectors and gases which are small in terms of total emissions.
    • CH4 emissions from waste are much lower for all years mainly because if decreased emissions factor for domestic wastewater
    • Higher 2023 emissions in M.AG.ELV, N2O come from replacing extrapolated data using third party growth rates by direct use of country reported data.
    • N2O in the “other” sector is now zero as it is now reported as “not occurring” which we interpret as zero. Pre-1990 data is lower because data for 1990 is lower in the new CR data.
    • CH4 in 1.B.1 is much lower for 1992 and later years. This is due to a change in emissions factor for underground mining activities from 1991 to 1992 in the CRT files.
    • CH4 from energy is lower because the activity data for residential biomass use has been reduced.
    • CH4 in 1.B.2 is higher before 2006, because the estimate for emissions from gas post meter have been increased.
    • N2O emissions from livestock are higher for all years because emissions from rabbit manure have been added.
  • Changes in the TP scenario are very small.

Changes by sector and gas

For each scenario and time frame the changes are displayed for all individual sectors and all individual gases. In the sector plot we use aggregate Kyoto GHGs in AR6GWP100. In the gas plot we usenational total emissions without LULUCF.
